Spiritual Warfare

Posted on

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Ephesians 6:12

Whatever occurs in this world is a result of the war going in the spiritual world. It is important we understand our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but our spiritual war is against Satan and his demons. We are in spiritual war, and victory only comes through the power of Christ. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Ephesians 6:10-11)

We fight this spiritual war with the power of God, and we call on the Lord in prayer, especially when Satan attacks us or our Christian brothers and sisters throughout the world.  We also pray for governmental leaders. I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2) Prayer for all people includes our enemies because we love all people, and our spiritual war is against Satan; he is the one who deceives people and places them on the broad road of destruction. As the Lord’s love increases in our hearts, the more we are enabled, by the power of prayer and the presence of Christ, to fight in the spiritual realm revealing God’s truth.

For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory. (Deuteronomy 20:4) The Lord’s power works in us to give us victory, and victory is when we give our best in doing the Lord’s will. When we do the Lord’s will, then He fights in the spiritual world. We fight this spiritual war through prayer and by doing the Lord’s will.

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4) The Lord has given us His power through the indwelling Holy Spirit to overcome the one who is in the world – Satan. We have the Lord’s power to bring God’s truth to the world, even when the world around us is persecuting Christians. We always use Godly wisdom in bringing God’s truth to people, and we always fight this spiritual war through prayer, seeking His divine guidance.

Today, realize you are in a spiritual war and expect victory through prayer and by reflecting Christ to everyone, even to your enemies. Today, reflect God’s love to everyone.

Prayer: Lord, guide me to fight this spiritual war, to love people and to hate sin. Let your love in my heart be seen by everyone I encounter today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
