Soldiers for Christ

Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.

2 Timothy 2:3-4

We are soldiers in this spiritual war and Christ is always with us as our commander. We fight Satan and his demons with the power of Christ, bringing God’s truth to a world deceived by Satan and his lies. Our weapons are the power of the Word, prayer, hearts of love, compassion, courage, and Godly wisdom.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) We fight the spiritual forces of evil and not flesh and blood. Christ guides us into battle through the Holy Spirit and he leads us to victory. Victory is guaranteed when we complete the assignment given to us, because Christ goes with us into every battle.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Ephesians 6:10-11) A Christian soldier never goes into battle with the armor of God, because the enemy will fight back with temptations to trigger our sinful fleshly desires.  If we yield to his temptations, we are losing the battle and we need to pray for the Lord’s power to escape.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20) We seek to live continuously in the Lord’s divine power, because Satan never stops planning his attack on us. Life is a continuous spiritual battle, and Satan is always looking for an opportune time to attack. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18) We fight this war fixing our eyes what is unseen, and victory leads us to eternal life in Heaven where there is no battle, because Satan, his demons, and his followers have been defeated.  Our reward for obeying our commander, Christ, is eternal life in Heaven where life is perfect for ever.

Today fight the spiritual battle and depend on Christ to assure victory.  Make sure you are equipped with the armor of God. Fight this battle with the Word and prayer, and with heart of love.

Prayer:  Lord guide me into this spiritual war and keep me suited in the armor so I can overcome Satan’s temptations.  In Jesus name, Amen
