Signs of the Time
Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
Matthew 24:32-34
The above verse tells of end times when Christ returns for his people, but the verse says “peoples of the earth will mourn.” Those who are living by Satan’s lies will mourn because they will finally know the truth. The signs of the time are revealing how Satan is exciting his people to attack Christians and to steal souls from God through his lies. Satan knows he has lost the spiritual war but in his last days his anger against God is revealed through his attempt to destroy God’s family.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). We can see Satan working in the church, physically destroying Christians, and infiltrating governments to oppose Christianity. We are living in the midst of a spiritual war. The more we see the world going against Christ and his church, the more these signs point toward end times.
Then they will deliver you over to be persecuted and killed, and you will be hated by all nations on account of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray and hate one another, and many false prophets will arise and mislead many. Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come (Matthew 24:9-14). We are currently seeing Christians persecuted and killed by hostile nations and we also see more violence in world. But the Gospel has yet to be preached to all nations.
Only the Father knows when the end time will come, but we can certainly see the goats are being separated from the sheep. The signs of the time show that it is a prime time to bring the good news of Christ to lost souls. We are not responsible for changing souls, but we are responsible to reveal the truth with a heart of love. Remember it’s a spiritual war against Satan and his demons, and we are fighting on the winning side with the power of God. Our weapon is prayer and our message is the truth.
Today, think about the fact that the life we know will end someday. Consider each day a gift from God, and live this day purposefully revealing Christ to lost souls. You never know who will listen and hear what the Spirit tells them. Plant the seed and let God water it.
Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to never waste an opportunity to encourage someone with the good news of Christ. Guide my thoughts and words to open hearts to the truth. In Jesus name, Amen
