Serve the Lord

Posted on

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 24:14

God is patiently waiting until everyone has a chance to hear the Gospel and make a choice because he wants to give every soul the opportunity of eternal life.  We are tasked by the Lord to preach the gospel to the world, and then the end will come. Then, we can leave this sinful world where Satan and his demons live and go home to be with the Father and Son in Heaven.

I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, (Philippians 1:23)  Paul was ready to go home to be with the Lord but the Lord called him to stay and minister to the churches.  It is the same for us; we minister to souls until the Lord calls us home.

When our hearts are motivated to serve the Lord, we are drawn closer to him because we cannot serve him without his divine guidance. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)  When we live to serve the Lord, fear leaves us and Christ fills us. Our focus is to follow the Spirit, helping and ministering to others, and the Lord with his love and power guides us through life.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) When our first priority is to serve the Lord, he promises to provide for our needs and he makes it possible for our physical needs under any situation

Today seek to be closer to the Lord by serving him.  The more we serve the Lord, the closer we are to him.  He takes away our fear and fills us with confidence and security.  The more we serve the Lord, the more eternally minded we become.  Nothing is as freeing as knowing Heaven is our home.

Prayer:  Lord, guide me today to serve you, to reflect Christ to everyone.  Help me to realize this life is temporary and life in Heaven is for eternity.  In Jesus name, Amen
