Serve the Lord with Patience

Posted on

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

Psalm 40:1

The scripture tells us to wait patiently for the Lord. God is always changing us to be more Christ-like, therefore in everything we do he is changing us, and it takes time to make lasting changes.

Whoever is patient has great understanding, is quick-tempered displays folly. (Proverbs 13:29) Patient is one characteristic that Satan does not want us to have, because if we are always rushing it can destroy the peace and joy that the Lord wants us to have. If we are truly patient, we will be able to think more clearly and stay connected to Christ in our thoughts. If we are patient, we will have better understanding and we will do everything better.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) Patients starts by being still inside, and staying connected to the Lord. We go through life being still inside, and with a heart that helps us to be conscious of reflecting Christ in everything we do. There is no substitute for patience, because it brings great relaxation to both the mind and body.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. (Romans 12:12) With patients we can be close to the Lord and live in hope through any tribulation, because we are serving the Lord with his strength and wisdom. We need to depend on the Lord in everything we do, so we can persevere and reflect Christ. When we walk with the Lord, we will learn to be patient, because we wait on the Lord. But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. (Romans 8:25)

Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. (2 Timothy 4:2) When we minister to others, we show patience by listening and understanding their knowledge of the Word. It’s always beneficial to show patience and kindness when reflecting Christ and when ministering to others.

Today walk with patience in everything you do, and reflect Christ to everyone by your patience and kindness. Patience is one of the most important gifts from God that we need be holy.

Prayer: Lord guide me to walk in patients and keep Satan from causing me to lose patients for any reason, and help me to keep my emotions under control. I Jesus name, Amen
