Seek to Know Christ
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:7
The more of God’s love we have in our hearts the more we will know God. The process of having our hearts filled with God’s love consist of being a Light on a hill, telling the world about Christ. This process of filling our hearts with God’s love, enables us to know the Lord and gives us a deep understanding of the Word.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (Mark 12:30-31) The process of loving God and loving our neighbor is what fills our hearts with God’s love. It’s the most important command because it draws us closer to Christ with a better understanding of is ways. And it’s love in our hearts that truly changes us, and motivates us to bring Christ to lost souls.
May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. (2 Thessalonians 3:5) The more love we have in our hearts, the more we know the Lord and his love for us. Knowing his love gives us great perseverance, because our desire is to be with the Father and the Son. I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; (Philippians 1:23) The apostle Paul was close to Christ and new of his great love, and he desired to part this world and be with Christ which is better by far. The closer we are to Christ the more we desire to be with Christ.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. (1 John 4:18) God’s love in our hearts casts out Satan’s fear. We can think about fear of the future which comes from Satan; but it will not remain with us because God’s love casts it out.
Today follow the Spirit and let the Lord continually increase his love in your heart. The Lord increases his love in our hearts to bring us closer to him, and to motivate us to serve Christ.
Prayer: Lord continually fill my heart with your love and draw me closer to you. In Jesus name, Amen
