Seek the Lord

Posted on

I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

Proverbs 8:17

Love is the foundation of the Christian life and it is revealed by seeking the Lord. The closer we are to the Lord, the more we love him, trust him, and depend on him.  Seeking the Lord and building a close loving relationship with him is the most fulfilling thing in life. The closer we are to the Lord, the more we strive to be closer.

Knowing the Lord in a close, loving relationship changes us and makes us more Christ-like, more obedient to his perfect will, and it fills our hearts with his love. The more of his love we have in our hearts, the more we will know the Lord. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3) We have an ever-increasing closeness to the Lord in this life and it instills in us a great desire to be with the Father and the Son in Heaven. Being with the Father and the Son is our motivation for eternal life.

If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; (Philippians 1:22-23) Paul was close to the Lord and he wanted to be with Lord which he said was greater by far. It’s impossible to have a close loving relationship with the Lord and not have the desire to be with him.  Knowing the Lord is more fulfilling than knowing any one on the planet.

So how do we seek the Lord so we can be close to him? I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) When we minister to others, the Lord fills our hearts with his love which helps to identify with Jesus.  We seek his guidance because we depend on him more.  Ministering to others leads to depending and seeking the Lord. If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15 KJV) Obeying the Lord’s perfect will is what motivates us to seek the Lord.

Today, serve the Lord and seek his divine guidance. Let Christ’s love and power live in you through the Spirit. Be relaxed and peaceful today as you serve the Lord.

Prayer:  Lord, open my heart to seek you as I depend on you in ministry. Guide me in the Spirit and help me to be still inside and walk with peace and joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen
