Seek God’s Guidance

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ”

Matthew 7:21-23

This passage is a warning to those who profess to be a Christian, and not to those who have genuinely accepted Christ as their Lord.  The Holy Spirit lives in the believer so Christ can guide us through life doing the Father’s will. We can follow the Word according to our own will, but is that always the same as following the Lord’s will through the Spirit?

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14)  The more we are motivated to serve the Lord and follow the Spirit, and the more we know the Word, the more we will hear the Spirit.  We pray from our hearts, with anguish in our hearts for lost souls and to overcome Satan’s evil in people’s lives. We pray for the Lord’s guidance to minister to lost souls and fight the spiritual war with your divine truth.

We may think that we cannot do anything significant, but through the power of Christ and a heart motivated by love, there is no limit what the Lord can do through us. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20) If our hearts are motivated by love, and we pray for the Lord’s guidance, then we will hear his guidance from the Holy Spirit.

Satan’s goal is to kill the power of Christ in us, hoping he can kill the power of the Church  A true Christian has a heart filled with God’s love and is motivated to bring God’s love not only to our family, but also to lost souls. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:13) True Christians are a light to the world, not just to our fellow Christians, and we do this because love produces anguish in our hearts for lost souls.  We are the church and if the church is a light on hill, then imagine the power the Lord will work though his church.

Pray the Lord will speak to you through the Spirit, and ask him to speak to you as you read his Word.  God looks at our hearts because everything we do comes from our hearts. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23). A heart that truly wants to serve the Lord is a heart filled with God’s love. God fills our hearts with love as we serve the Lord pointing lost souls to Christ.  This is the purpose of every Christian and we do this by the guidance of Christ.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:31) If we have this scripture in our hearts, then we will live by these verses. So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (James 2:17) Show your faith by trusting the Lord’s guidance.

Today seek guidance by the Spirit through prayer. If we continue to follow the Spirit ministering to the world, the Lord pours his love into our hearts. A heart of love for lost souls and hatred of evil in the world, motivates us to seek the Lord for his guidance.

Prayer:  Open my heart to live by your truth, a heart filled with your love that seeks to serve you. Help me to put your divine will first in my life. In Jesus name, Amen
