See the World via the Spirit
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Romans 8:6
Our mind is to be governed by the Spirit. We can do this by calling on the Spirit from what we see and hear and calling on the Spirit for what we need to think, say, or do. This is the purpose of the Spirit, letting Christ guide us on whatever comes to us from the world. Through the Spirit, He guides our response to the world. We interface to the world and to God via the Spirit.
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. (James 1:19) If we see the world through the Spirit, we must slow down inside and call on the Spirit for guidance. This verse applies to most everything in life, especially when emotionally driven such as anger. Problem occur when our emotions drive our thoughts, words, and actions.
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105) A good knowledge of the Word will greatly enable guidance by the Spirit. The Word is the language of God; the more we know the Word and the more we have a heart filled with God’s love, the easier it is to be guided by the Spirit.
If we develop the habit of calling on the Spirit for what we hear and see and call on the Spirit for our response, it will become natural and it will help us to slow down inside. The key to living by the Spirit is to slow down inside even if the world is chaotic around us. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) If we stay connected to the Lord, especially when praising and thanking the Lord, it will enable us to be still and know God.
Today, see the world through the Spirit and call on the Spirit as a filter between your soul and the world, a filter that eliminates sin. Commune with Lord today and pray for his control of any sinful emotions. Keep your soul guided by the Spirit and not guided by the world.
Prayer: Lord, help me live by the Spirit, to be controlled by the Spirit and not by the world. Guide me to always seek guidance through the Spirit and to live in your divine will. In Jesus name, Amen
