Rescued by the Lord

Posted on

The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.

2 Peter 2:9

God rescued Lot, a righteous man living in distress by the depraved conduct in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. You used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. (Ephesians 2:2). For all who haven’t accepted Christ as their Savior are following the way of the world, where Satan’s spirits are at work in the disobedience. We see the world following the ruler of the kingdom of the air, as his evil lies entice people to destroy Christians and to fill the world with violence. But just as God rescued Lot, he promises to rescue Christians that remain faithful. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. (Revelation 3:21).

Today many Christians are being persecuted and killed but the Lord has rescued them. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Matthew 10:28). Christians live for their promised eternal life in Heaven with the Lord. The Holy Spirit is our seal that identifies us as God’s children, and he protects our soul from the evil one. If we keep our soul faithful to the Lord, we will live in victory, but if we live for our temporary flesh, we are to be pitied by all men. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. (1 Corinthians 15:19).

Since this temporary body comes from the earth and cannot leave the earth, we get an eternal body to live in Heaven. So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;  it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body (1 Corinthians 15:42-44). Our aging flesh will be replaced by imperishable, glorious, and powerful new younger body. Our eternal life starts the day we accept Christ because we never die. After our last breath our conscious soul leaves our dead flesh, and when Christ returns we are clothed with a new eternal body. So physical death has no power over a Christian, therefore we overcome the world. For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).

God rescued Lot and he rescues his children. So don’t be like Lot’s wife who chose to go back Sodom and Gomorrah. But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. (Genesis 19:26) God is not pleased if we look back, but he is pleased when we have the love and courage to be faithful to our last breath.

Today know that the Lord will rescue you from any sin you encounter. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21). Overcome evil by remaining faithful to the Lord and reflecting Christ in all situations. Stay connected to the Lord through pray by seeking his guidance through the Spirit.

Prayer: Lord thank you for rescuing me from the evils of this world. Help my soul to live in the Kingdom as my flesh lives in the world. In Jesus name, Amen
