Renewing the Mind
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2
Our mind is renewed based on our thoughts, and it takes time for our minds to renew. The neural connections in our brains will rewire based on our thinking, and this called neuroplasticity. If our brains couldn’t rewire, how could we learn in education, our jobs, and life experiences. Satan’s goal is to have brains rewire to conform to the ways of the world.
Dr. Timothy Jennings in his book titled, “The God Shaped Brain”, states: “Recent brain research by Dr. Newburg at the University of Pennsylvania has documented that all forms of contemplative meditation were associated with brain changes – but the greatest improvements occurred when participants meditated on a God of love. Such meditation was associated with growth in the prefrontal cortex (the part of the brain right behind the forehead where we reason, make judgments, and experience God-like love.) and subsequent increased capacity for empathy, sympathy, compassion, and altruism. But here’s the most astonishing part. Not only does other-centered love increase when we worship a God of love, but sharp thinking and memory improve as well. In other words, worshipping a God of love actually stimulates the brain to heal and grow.” We can see from this quote how are minds are created by God, and how by changing our thinking people can change for being self-centered, to a mind of love and compassion.
A quote from Dr. Caroline Leaf from her book titled: “Switch on Your Brain,” states: “When we distort love and truth, we wire perversion into our brains and, in a sense create brain damage. This is not an exaggeration, because our brains are wired for love, not fear, and therefore all the circuits – neurochemical, neuropsychological, neurobiological, electromagnetic, and quantum – are geared up for healthy, not toxic, thinking. If we allow ourselves to learn fear, it creates chaos in our brains. Scientific evidence is showing that our thinking affects the efficiency of the brain and also affects our physical health. Therefore, we can clearly see that God is wiring our mind from the self-centered way of Satan, to the original way he created us – a mind of love and hope.”
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) From the above scientific proofs we can see how we ae created in the image of God, and we can see how Satan changes the wiring in our minds to conform to the world. But through the power of God, we can change the neural connection in our brains, unwiring toxic wiring done by Satan, and wiring in the ways of God. And the rewiring of our brains is based on our thinking. We wire Godly thinking by having a church family, praying, reading the Word, and serving Christ. We seek to keep both our conscious and subconscious thoughts on reflecting Christ.
Today seek to control your thinking from the ways of the world to the ways of God. We have to think about things of the world; like working education, or driving. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossian 3:23-24) If we do everything as doing it for the Lord, our mind will be on the Godly tract.
Prayer: Lord, help me overcome any toxic thinking, such a fear from Satan, and fill mind with love, hope and compassion till the time I leave this earth. In Jesus name, Amen
