Remember What God has Done

Posted on

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

James 1:17

We should give God the glory for every good thing in our life, and live with a thankful heart every day. We should always have in our hearts what the Father and Son did when Jesus took our sins to the cross. This was the greatest moment in all history; Jesus bridged the gap between us a God, fills us with the Holy Spirit, guides us through life, gives us his power, and we have the Word which read and obey as God conforms us to the image of His Son. We should always remember what God has done for us through Christ each day of our life, and remember Heaven is our home.

And all the community raised their voice…and grumbled against Moses and Aaron (Exodus 14:1-20) The Israelites complained to God through Moses, even after the ten miracles God did to free them, led them by pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, divided the Red Sea to save them from the Egyptians, gave them water form a rock, and fed them manna from the sky. Yet the Israelites seem to have no memory God’s faithfulness, and continue to complain. The reason God wants us to remember what He has done for us, is so we will always trust Him.

We tend to ask ourselves, “God helped me yesterday but will he help me today.”  This statement shows our weakness in trusting the Lord. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Romans 11:6) God wants us to know Him and his faithfulness, and without faith it means we don’t know Him.

In the Word God had monuments erected to remember what He had done for them. It would be good if every day we right in a notebook what God has done for us, because it can overcome our taking things for granted. Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Keeping track of what God has done for us will give us a thankful heart, and we will learn to depend on God for everything in life.

Today take note of the blessings from God, a know the perfect love and forgiveness He has for you.

Prayer:  Lord, remind me of all the blessings you have given me in my life, and let me take nothing for granted.  And develop in me a thankful heart.  In Jesus name, Amen
