Remain Holy

Posted on

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

2 Corinthians 7:1

Remaining Holy means we walk with God reflecting Christ at all times, no matter what the world around us is doing. Most of the world is walking on the broad road of destruction, living in Satan’s lies; many are working for Satan to take away freedom of religion in an attempt to destroy Christians. This means we need strength and courage from God to remain Holy representatives of Christ.

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor  in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58)(1 C. We are the Lord’s servants while we live this short temporary life, and we are the only light for God’s truth in this dark world. Letting your light shine in the darkness of the world brings great reward from God. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you (Matthew 5:11-12). The Lord is greatly pleased when we have the courage to remain holy in the midst of persecution.

Christians fight Satan because the more powerful he becomes in the world, the more people that will follow him. Our job is to bring God’s truth to the world so that people can walk away from Satan and remain holy. This is a spiritual battle for the eternal life of souls and it requires that we remain holy in the face of opposition.

The more we serve the Lord in the face of opposition, the more we will know him and experience his blessings. When the Lord’s love fills our hearts, the fear we have from Satan diminishes, meaning we are more motivated to pray and minister to lost souls. When fear decreases, courage increases.

Remaining holy can be difficult when we are around our worldly non-Christians friends, because we can be easily influenced to join their unholy conversations and jokes. Friendship should never cause us to compromise the truth or our holiness unto God.  Christians are to be closer to the Lord than to anyone else, always reflecting Christ’s love and compassion. Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). God is referred to as Holy, Holy, Holy, which means that we must be holy so we can reflect Christ at all times.

Adapting to the world will make a Christian act like a worldly person at times and like a Godly person at other times. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2). God renews us to have the mind of Christ, and changes our hearts to make us holy.

Today remind yourself to be holy in every situation, reflecting Christ’s love and compassion. If possible avoid situations where being holy is difficult. Pray that the Lord will help you to be holy and to control any emotions that may cause you to become unholy.

Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to remain holy, reflecting Godly wisdom in every situation today. Help me to remain calm and in control. Let the Holy Spirit, not my emotions, control my thoughts, words, and actions. In Jesus name, Amen
