Relationship or Fellowship with the Lord?

Posted on

What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

1 John 1:3

The Bible uses the word fellowship to define our relationship with the Father and the Son and with our fellow Christians. Fellowship can be defined by the following scripture: Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. (Philippians 1:1-2) In fellowship we are all united by the Holy Spirit and we become like-minded in Christ. We all share the blessings of Christ.

Fellowship with the Lord and with our Christian brothers and sisters can motivate us to bring others in the Lord’s divine family. Especially those close to us because once they receive Christ and are filled with the Spirit we can have divine fellowship and be even closer to them. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.(1 John 1:7) We walk in the Light, and Christ purifies us from all sin, and this makes for a joyous thankful fellowship with the Father, the Son, and with our Christian family. There is no closer relationship than fellowship with the Lord and the Saints.

Fellowship with the Lord is achieved through the Spirit who connects us to the Lord and enables us to understand the Word. In the same way the Spirit also comes to help us, weak as we are. For we do not know how we ought to pray; the Spirit himself pleads with God for us in groans that words cannot express. (Romans 8:26) It is through the Spirit our prayers are conveyed to our Lord, revealing our heart. The Word is discerned through the Spirit enabling us to understand the language of God. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:14)

Today have fellowship with the Lord by being like-minded and following the Spirit to reflect Christ to others. Let your life follow the life of Jesus with the same heart of love and compassion.

Prayer: Lord, guide me to fellowship with you, by being like-minded seeking your divine will in my life. Continue renewing my mind and heart to the mind and heart of Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen
