Reflect Christ

Posted on

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

Philippians 2:5-8

We have the same attitude and mind of Jesus. We are not to be our own god, but we are to be secure and humble, living as servants of Christ. This is the most fulfilling life that we can have because we were created to live in the Lord’s power, strength, wisdom and guidance.  We are overcoming the world as God is molding us to the mind and heart of Christ.

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) If we desire to reflect Christ, we must start by changing our thoughts from being governed by the flesh to be governed by the Spirit. This is a process that requires a desire to change our thinking and we pray for God’s divine power to change our thinking.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV) The more we know the Word, the better we can reflect Christ, and the more we know the Word, the better we can follow the Spirit because the Word is the language of God.

Put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. (Ephesians 4:24 NASB) We are created by God to have the mind and the heart of Jesus.  As we change our thinking, we live as the Lord’s servants bring Christ to others, and our hearts will change.  When our heart changes, we serve the Lord with a heart of love.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:7-8) God’s love fills our hearts as we reflect the love of Christ to the world.  It’s love that enables us to know the Lord, and love frees us from ourselves and our sinful nature.

Today, follow the Spirit and follow the Word. Do what the Word is telling you, and your mind will renew and your heart will change.  It’s a heart filled with God’s love that desires to bring Christ to the world, and the change is forever.  Live one day at a time, read the Word, pray, and encourage others in their walk with Christ.

Prayer:  Lord, change my thinking and my heart as I strive to follow your will. Give me your divine guidance with patience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
