Receive and Give

Posted on

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

Luke 6:38

God created everything and all creation operates on the process of receiving and giving; and that the way of God and it’s the way of Christians. The world receives and gives; for example, water falls from clouds and feed via rivers back into the ocean which produces the clouds. God receives our love and obedience and we receive his blessings, and we give to others the blessings and truth we get from God. This is way all creation works and it the way we should live, receiving and giving.

Satan understands the ways of God, receiving and giving, that is why he strives to make people self-centered, which can be considered as pride. But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (James 4:6) If we are harboring a little pride, it can affect our desire to give, and if we don’t give what will we receive from God?

God has given us everything, Christ died for our sins, gives us the Holy Spirit, and Christ is with us and guides us through life into Heaven. Christians give money at Sunday Church, but do we give ourselves to serve Christ? We receive from God everything we need to be a light on a hill. If we don’t ask the Lord to open doors so we can tell others about Christ, are we being prideful? It’s one thing to show Christ wherever we go, and its another thing to pray for the Lord to open doors to bring Christ to the world. Either face to face, handing out Christian literature, inviting people to church, helping people with their physical needs, or maybe opening a website.

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (Acts 20:35) Jesus is telling us to help the weak, and anyone that doesn’t know Christ can be considered as weak. We are blessed when we give because it shows we love God. The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25: 40) The King is Christ, and when we give to others it shows our love for Christ.

There is something everyone can give to further the kingdom, but we must pray for the Lord to open doors. Christ is looking for people who are obedient to his commands, and when we minister to the world, then our hearts get filled with God’s unconditional love. We can go to church and fill our minds with God’s love, but it has to be in our hearts because we live out of our hearts, and a heart of filled with God’s unconditional love changes us.

Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:36-39) This the greatest command and to fulfill this command we develop and giving heart, and a giving heart comes as we start giving and increases as we continue.

Today live according to God’s word and the way of nature, receive and give, Give the truth of God’s word and his blessings to the world today.

Prayer:  Lord guide me to give to others the truth and the blessings that I have received. In Jesus name, Amen
