Put Your Hope in Christ

Posted on

Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

Galatians 6:8

Many people live to please their flesh seeking to remain comfortable and secure.  This is a natural God-given trait for all of us, except we live in a fallen world and we cannot always be comfortable and secure. But, we can put our hope in Christ and place emphasis on our eternal soul.  (Our soul or spirit is our thoughts, personality, emotions, and will.)  If we place our hope in Christ, knowing we will have eternal life with an eternal body living in a perfect world with the Father and the Son, then we can be secure in this life.

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:2-3)  We place our hope in Christ our Lord and savior because we know he will soon come back and take us into Heaven with him.  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)  We put our hope in Christ because salvation only comes from Christ because he died for our sins and intercedes for us to Father.  We only have forgiveness of our sins through Christ who presents us to Father as perfect.

Live for eternal life and live to bring Christ to lost souls, especially as we approach end times.  If we live this life and do not end up in Heaven, then we have wasted our life, even though we might have been successful and raised a good family.  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23).  Only Jesus lived in the flesh without sin and he became the perfect sacrifice for our sins.  We put our hope in Christ because he is the only one who can save us.

We fight sin, but as long we are this flesh, we have a sinful nature even though we fight sin, but the good news is Christ forgives us because he sees our hearts which desires to be sin freeBut the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)  A Christian’s heart desires to live perfectly but our flesh makes it impossible to live perfectly so the Lord knows our hearts when we ask for forgiveness.

Today put your hope in Christ, because there is nothing in all creation that we can place our hope. We can have lots of money, power, and possessions, but if we don’t have Christ, we have nothing.  Put your hope in Christ and live for eternal life.

Prayer:  Lord, guide me in the spirit to my eternal home, to live with you forever.  Help me through this life to bring lost souls to Christ, explaining hope is only in Christ.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
