Pray for those on the Broad Road

Posted on

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Matthew 7:13-14

Pray for those on the broad road of destruction because they are controlled by Satan’s lies. Satan is recruiting the world against Christians, controlling people to do his evil deeds. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44) This is what Jesus told the Pharisees and it describes those who are on the broad road to destruction.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:17)  We have victory in Christ both in this life and eternal life, because all authority in Heaven and earth belong to Christ. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (Matthew 28:18) If we believe Satan’s lies we are on the broad road to destruction, but if walk in the truth with Christ, we have victory is Christ because we are on the narrow road to eternal life.

Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, (Matthew 24:12) As we confront the evil in the world, it’s easy to become angry at those souls that are following Satan, but  we need to pray for those lost souls, for they are blinded to God’s truth and choose to believe Satan’s lies.  Let your anger be directed toward Satan, the cause of all evil in the world, and pray for those souls he has recruited to his evil work. There is no room in a Christian’s heart for hate; the only thing we hate is sin.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) When we take our last breath only the flesh dies, our spirit leaves the body and we are alive, and when Christ returns we get a new eternal body. We have nothing to fear because Christ conquered death for us, and he will give us his strength and courage to get through this temporary life.

Today pray for lost souls, the ones you know directly, and for all those that on the wide road. Also pray for Christians all over the world for the Lord’s strength, so they can endure this world to their last breath.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to always know that whatever the world believes that I will live by your Truth, knowing I am victorious because I walk in faith.  You overcame Satan and his evil on the cross so I can live with victory in Christ.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
