Power Over Satan
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3
The Lord has given us his power to overcome all of Satan’s sinful temptations. We capture every thought and change it to Godly thought, and we do this immediately for the sin is conceived in our mind. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
The Lord has given us his power to overcome Satan’s evil, because He knows how Satan tempts us, and he will limit Satan’s temptations so he can overcome it. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (11 Corinthians 10:13) From this verse we are given the promise from God that He will provide a way to endure and overcome Satan’s temptations.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57) We all like experiencing victory, and Christ will give us victory over our sinful emotions. Through the power of the Spirit, we can overcome any sinful emotions, but we need a plan to escape because Satan will make the emotion return. As we start living in victory over Satan, we will begin living in the power that the Lord has given us.
A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. (Proverbs 25:28) If we lack self-control we are broken by Satan, and giving Satan power over us may never end. Every Christian should pray for self-control, because lack of self-control is the gateway to sin.
Today live with victory in Christ, and live with self-control over Satan’s temptations. We have the power from God to overcome the world.
