Power of Prayer

Posted on

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 14:3

If our prayers are in Jesus’ name, and our prayers bring glory to God, then our prayers are answered. Do you see God answering your prayer? Did God answer your prayer just the way you wanted him to answer and the exact time you wanted the answer?

We know that if our prayers bring glory to God they are answered, therefore let’s look prayers that bring glory to God. We can pray for a heart of love, peace, joy, strength, wisdom, patience, anything to make us more Christ-like that will help us serve the Lord. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33). This is a promise that God will provide for our physical needs, if we put him first. We can pray for health, healing, our finances, or for our jobs, because all are used in serving the Lord and bring glory to God. We have a thankful heart when we pray, because we know every good thing in our life comes from God.

We know God will answer our prayers, and we keep praying without doubt. If we doubt, it shows that we don’t fully trust him or his perfect love for us. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:6). We make sure our prayers give glory to God and that we also give glory to God as we serve him. We continue praying, and we are confident knowing our prayer is in God’s hands. Our responsibility is to follow the Spirit’s guidance in serving the Lord, because the answer to our prayer dependents on our obedience to the Lord.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9). It is important to realize the truth of this verse when praying, because God will answer our prayers based on his perfect love and wisdom. If God always answered our prayers according to our desire and according our timing, we would be limiting God’s power in our life.

Therefore to have the power of prayer in your life, pray for the glory of God, pray without doubt knowing God will answer, accept his perfect answer and timing, and continue walking as his servant. We are now trusting God, by turning are prayers over to him and continue walking as his servant, waiting excitingly for his divine answer.

Today offer your prayers to the Lord and trust him completely. This relieves us from trying to control things we cannot control, but give it to the Lord where all things are possible. Note that through your prayers, walking according to his will, and experiencing his answer; how he his changing you to be more Christ-like. Also notice the peace that comes by giving our problems to the Lord, and trusting him completely. We leave the result in his hands, and we continue walking as the Lord’s servants, always trusting him.

Prayer: Lord I pray that all my prayers bring glory to you, and that my life brings glory to you. I will accept your answer to my prayer knowing you are God, and your wisdom and love is always perfect. Take any doubt, fear, or anger that Satan may through at me, and exchange for peace and joy that comes from you. In Jesus name, Amen
