The Power of God’s Love in Us

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

Ephesians 3:20

This verse tells us that God’s power is at work in us but what exactly is that power? For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). This verse tells us that we are not given a Spirit of fear, but one of power with a sound mind. The power of God that is released in us depends on our faith and on our courage. We need the faith that pleases God and we need to overcome the fear from Satan in order to have courage.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5). The faith that pleases God is that we do not lean on our own understanding but trust God’s divine will. We pray every day and trust God to answer our prayers according to his will and his timing, while we walk in obedience to his will. This way we have stepped off the throne and the Lord’s power is now released in us.

If we are to walk in accordance to the Lord’s will, we will need courage. Satan tries to kill our courage through his weapon of fear, but the Word says perfect love casts out fear. Recognizing God’s perfect love and the promise of eternal life gives us divine security and further reduces our fear and worry. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26). Knowing God is our perfect, loving Father, and knowing all things are possible with him, increases our trust and power. The more we reflect God’s love the more our focus is on God and others, freeing us from focusing and worrying about ourselves. The more we serve the Lord, the more we trust God to take care of us, guiding us in his wisdom.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8). The Lord is always with us and he goes before us. He loves us perfectly, all things are possible for him, and heaven is our home. Knowing this through divine faith we have overcome the world and we crush the fear that comes from Satan. We are now living with courage and in the power of God.

Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4). We have the power of God to overcome the world and live free in Christ through our faith in the Lord. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1). Fully trusting the Lord in our walk and in our prayers can relieve us from fear and worry. The more we trust the Lord and follow the Spirit, ministering to the world, the more God’s love enters our hearts and the more Satan’s fear leaves our hearts. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18).

Today, live in the power of God, boldly proclaiming the good news of Christ to the world. Don’t let Satan’s fear enter your thoughts, but adopt the attitude of victory in Christ, knowing Christ is with you every second of the day. Commune with the Lord throughout the day and pray for his power and wisdom.

Let’s Pray: Lord, I pray today that your power will be seen through me; the power to be a light in this world and overcome the darkness of Satan. Guide me in the Spirit toward opportunities to reflect the love of Jesus into the hearts of others. In Jesus’ name, Amen
