Our Relationship with Christ

Posted on

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:1-3

Having a close loving relationship with Christ makes our life fulfilling and secure. We can have a close relationship with Christ by obeying his Word, faith that fully depends on Christ, a heart filled with God’s love, prayer, studying the Word, keeping our thoughts on things above, and always seeking a closer relationship.

But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. (Psalm 1:2) The Word is the foundation of the Christian life, because it tells how to live a life guided by Christ, which the most fulfilling life, and he leads us to Heaven. From the Word we get to know Christ and the Father, and when we obey the Word, we are changed to have the mind of Christ with a heart of love. The Word is alive because Christ places thought in our minds as we read the Word. We should always pray that the Lord will be with us as we read the Word.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) It’s critical that our faith is pleasing to God, because our faith is based on our relationship with the Father and the Son. When we truly know the Lord, we will be willing to turn our life over to Him. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) The apostle Paul fully trusted the Lord more than he trusted himself, because he died to his will and did his best to live by the will of Christ.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) When we live to serve Christ, God fills our hearts with his divine love, which greatly helps us to know Christ, his love and emotions. Our emotions are now modeling the emotions of Jesus which helps us to better understand the Word

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. (Colossians 4:2) If we have faith that truly depends on God, we will pray many times during the day, because we know all things are possible for God. Prayer is very important because it indicates the relationship we have with Christ.  If we depend on Christ to guide each day, we will commune with him throughout the day, just as if he was walking beside us.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) The Kingdom of God is within us, and if we keep our thoughts on things above, the spiritual person the we are will live in the Kingdom. And we interface to the world from the Kingdom, as doing everything for the Lord.

Today commune with Lord as he guides you through the day with his love and divine power.

Prayer: Guide me through life with a heart of love, and draw me closer to you every day. In Jesus name, Amen
