Only Christ Can Save Us

Posted on

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

Christ took our punishment when he took our sins to the cross. He accepts our prayers for forgiveness and presents us to the Father as perfect.  Only the infinite love of God could save us; there is nothing mankind can do that would redeem ourselves to God. God is love and the nature of his love is to give, and he gave himself by sacrificing his Son for our sins.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV) The wages of sin is death, and the sins for all mankind were placed on Christ who died for us.  This is the infinite love the Father and the Son have for us, and it reveals how much the Father and the Son want to be with us and bless us for all eternity.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 KJV) If there was any other way for us to be saved, do you think the Father would have sent his Son to the cross? Jesus asked the same question while in the garden before his arrest. Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. (Luke 22:42) Jesus asked the Father is there another way to redeem mankind and the Father sent an angel to give him strength.  Only God could bridge the infinite gap that sin created between mankind and the Father. The answer had to come from Heaven, from the infinite presence and love of Christ.  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Meditate and think deeply about the infinite love the Father and the Son has for you, knowing the Father sent his Son to pay the price for your sins. This was a gift from God, the greatest gift we could ever receive. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8) The more we understand God’s gift of salvation and grace, the more his love increases in our hearts and the more we have the desire to tell others about God’s infinite love and salvation through Christ.  We tell them that the Father and the Son defeated sin when Christ went to the cross.

Today, remember that Christ went to the cross for our sins. Know the Father and the Son love you infinitely, and want to guide you through life to receive his infinite blessing for eternity.

Prayer:  Lord let the cross of Jesus pierce my heart and let it fill my heart with love and thankfulness. Let your love in my heart motivate me to tell others about your infinite love and how Jesus took our sins to the cross. In Jesus’ name, Amen
