More Than We Ask

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.

Ephesians 3:20

The verse above says the Lord will do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. When we pray, especially for change in us; such as faith that pleases the Lord, overcome anger, have more patience, overcome fear, or follow the Spirit. We pray for the Lord’s power to change us as we strive to change, however it takes times to change, and over time the Lord will answer our prayer and He will do more than we ask or imagine.

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6) The Lord is always changing us to conform to the image of His Son, and the Lord knows the change we need that we may not be aware of. The Lord will answer our prayer as He changes us to be like His son, and He does this in a matter that answers our prayer.

 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) As the Lord changes us in answer to our prayer, it’s important we do our best to follow His will, because by following the Spirit, He changes us and answers our prayer. For example, I ask the Lord if my faith was pleasing to Him. A year later I realized the Lord had changed me so my faith would be pleasing to Him. In this process the Lord did more than I asked or imagined.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) Following the Spirit requires being still inside and to know the Word; the language of God. The more we know the Word and the more we commune with the Lord, the more we will hear the Spirit. The Spirit will place thoughts in our minds and change the desires of our hearts.  It’s always good to ask the Lord for the Spirit’s guidance as we go through our day.

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. (Psalm 40:1) As we wait for the Lord to change us, realize that he changing us more than we ask or imagine. Continue serving the Lord, and over time God will answer in accordance to your prayer. Always know that the Lord is active in your life, especially as you serve Christ. The more we serve the Lord the more God takes care of us, our family, and our worldly needs. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) We always trust the Lord’s will over our will, because He is God and we cannot always understand his thoughts and ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9)

Today know the Lord will answer your prayers, sometimes quickly and sometimes over time, but he is always changing you to be more Jesus. His answer will be more than we ask or imagine.

Prayer:  Lord let my faith and my patience always increase as I seek to serve you. In Jesus name, Amen
