What Makes the Bible Different?

Posted on

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Matthew 24:35

The Bible is different because it is God’s Word, written to reveal himself and his relationship to mankind. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21) In the Old Testament, God spoke to the people directly and through the prophets. He reveals the nature of man and shows the consequences of our Godly nature and the consequences of our sinful nature. The New Testament God leaves heaven and comes to earth in the form of man, his Son Jesus. Jesus shows us the life we are to live, and offers us salvation through his sacrifice for our sins. The Bible alone tells us how to be saved. We will look at convincing evidence that the Bible is the Word of God, through unity, prophecy, and history.

Although the Bible was composed by men, it reveals the hand of God. The Bible was written over a period of 1,500 years by forty different authors with various backgrounds. It was written in three different languages, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. From this background the Bible is a unit from beginning to end, telling the story of God’s plan for saving mankind. Every part of the Bible is necessary to understand the personality and the heart of God, and for understanding his plan for saving us. The unity of the Bible is strong evidence it is the Word of God.

The Bible has verified future events, otherwise known as prophecy. Many prophecies were given to the Israelite people that were fulfilled many years later. There are over 300 prophecies about Jesus, many written hundreds of years before Jesus birth. There are still prophecies yet to be fulfilled that deal with end times. All prophecies that have been verified came true at the exact date, and each fulfilled in every detail.

The Bible has proven itself to be historically accurate. No one has successful challenged the Bible to be historically in error. Every questionable historical event, after thorough research, has proved the Bible to be correct. Archeological discoveries have consistently validated the truth of the Bible.

The Bible is the most influential book in the world even though Satan has many times tired to destroy it but always failed. Trying to destroy the Bible is like trying to destroy God.

Unfortunately many people today refuse to believe the Bible ignoring all evidence that is presented to them. People will ignore the truth knowing it is true, and they will believe a lie knowing it’s a lie. Their hearts have gotten hard and they fight anything that might hold them accountable to God. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. (Romans 1:21)

Today know that the Bible is the Word of God and it is truth. Today do not entertain any lies from Satan and live in the truth of God’s divine promises. Know God’s truth from his Word, because we detect Satan’s lies by knowing the truth.

Prayer: Lord, keep my heart pure with your truth and free from Satan’s lies. I know the truth will set me free in Christ, leading me to eternal life. Help me to stay close to your Word and not be led astray by the world. In Jesus name, Amen
