Love Versus Fear

Posted on

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

Satan’s weapon is fear but God’s love triumphs over Satan’s fear. God is sovereign over everything including Satan and his demons.  We walk with the Lord and we triumph over Satan’s fear and over all his temptation because the Lord has given us his power.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  (1 John 4:18)  The more of God’s love that fills our hearts, the less fear we have.  God’s love and Satan’s fear cannot coexist.  As love increases in our hearts, fear naturally goes away because of the power of God’s perfect love.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. (1 Chronicles 29:11-12)  The Lord is sovereign over all creation and we are comforted because we are in his family and Heaven is our home. Our security comes from the Lord who is sovereign over all things and he loves us perfectly.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)  Knowing all things are possible for God adds to our security and he works all things for our good. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 14:13) Our prayers bring glory to Father, we know the Lord hears our prayers and he promises to answer our prayers.  How he answers and when he answers, we leave his hands because we trust Him and his divine ways. We can be confident that however the Lord answers our prayers, it is for our good and spiritual growth.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1) No one on the face of the earth loves us as much as the Lord loves us, his love is infinite and he cares for those in his family. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. (Romans 8:16-17)

Today overcome fear by knowing God’s love.  Know you are in his family and God has total control over everything.  Walk strong in the Lord with love, peace, and joy because you know you have victory in Christ.

Prayer:  Lord I put my trust and my security in you. Guide me in the Spirit to bring your divine power and love to others.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
