Love the Lord

Posted on

He answered, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

Luke 10:27

Loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength is something we strive to achieve. The closer we are to the Lord, the better our life. The more love in our heart driving out our fears, we have more peace, joy, and faith. Life continues to get better and more fulfilling and enjoyable as we continue getting closer to the Lord until we step into eternity to be with the Father and the Son where life will be perfect beyond our imagination.

What is it that we can do that shows the Lord our love? Listed below are ways we can please the Lord.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:2)

God is pleased when we read the Word to seek understanding of his love and his ways. We also read the Word because it is the language of God and it helps to hear the Spirit’s guidance, so we can teach others the good news of Christ. Meditation gives a time to escape the world and to move into the Spirit to be closer to the Lord.

If you love me, keep my commands.(John 14:15)

God is pleased when our hearts are filled with his love, motivating us to keep his commands. Our love for the Lord drives us to spread his truth to the world, and it as the priority in our life. If we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, then the meaning of our life is to serve him and be a light for Christ.

Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25)

Our heart should desire to attend every meeting of God’s people whenever possible. Our desire is to attend all worship services and Bible studies, because we are seeking with all our heart to be closer through worship and through knowledge of the Lord. Being closer to the Lord and getting to know him comes from serving him, which becomes the driving force of our life. Nothing is more motivating to us than serving and pleasing the Lord.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. (Romans 8:26-27)

Prayer is talking and listening to God, and prayer also reveals our desire to talk to him and reveals our faith. How can we seek to be close to the Lord without prayer, without communicating with him and learning to listen to him through the Spirit, through his Word, through others, and through the circumstances in our life?

Today, seek to be pleasing to the Lord in everything you do as the Spirit guides you through the day. Think about the perfect love the Lord has for you and how much he desires to bless you and give you eternal life to be with him forever.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your example of perfect love and the gift of eternal life. Help me to focus on drawing closer to you so I can be a better servant to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen
