Love People – Hate Sin

Posted on

Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Matthew 24:12-13

As we approach end times, Jesus tells us that wickedness will increase and the love of most will grow cold. Jesus experienced wickedness when he was flogged and crucified for our sins, but He showed love until his last breath. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)  Jesus prayed for the Roman soldiers that crucified Him. Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43) Jesus told this to one of the men crucified with Him because the criminal believed in Jesus. Jesus died on the cross showing love to others, so we need to show God’s love to our last breath.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31) This is the greatest command because love is the foundation of the Christian life. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:7-8) Love is what enables us to know God and to have a close personal relationship with him. The more love we have in our hearts, the more we know God and the more we will depend on him.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  (Ephesians 6:12)  We are in a spiritual war that is fought through prayer and guidance by the Holy Spirit.  We hate sin but we love people.  In the last days when evil increases, our hatred of sin increases and our love for lost souls increases. We pray for our enemies that their hearts will change to know God’s truth. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, (Matthew 5:44).  Like Jesus, we have our hearts filled with unconditional love for everyone, we hate sin and we pray that lost souls will find forgiveness through Christ

Today, let your love be seen by all people through kindness.  Pray that the Spirit will lead you to souls that are open to hear the truth.

Prayer: Lord, help me to love everyone and to hate sin.  I know all evil comes from Satan, so guide me to fight this spiritual war through prayer, and by seeking your truth and reflecting your love to the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen
