Love Never Fails
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
1 Corinthians 13:8
The verse love never fails in the original Hebrew implies that love never ends, which correlates with the remaining words of the verse; prophecies, tongues, and knowledge will cease when we enter eternity. Since God is love (1 John 4:8), there can be two meanings to this verse, (1) love never fails because God never fails, and (2) love never ends because God never ends. So how does this verse impact our everyday lives?
God never fails and he lives in us through the Holy Spirit; and if we make Godly choices then will we fail? We cannot follow the Spirit perfectly, but God knows as long as we are trying he will keep us from failing. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) We know love never fails because God never fails, and that enables us to fully trust the above verse. Not everything in life is good, but God in his divine wisdom will use everything for our good. He will use everything to mold us to be more Christ-like, and he promises to supply our earthly needs. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)
God’s love never ends means his love for us never ends. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39) Our perfect God made a way for us to be in his presence: Through Christ and the Holy Spirit we have forgiveness, and Christ presents us sinless to the Father. God’s endless love means he will accept us and work with us no matter where we are in our walk, no matter how slowly we are progressing, or how difficult it is to overcome our sinful natures. As long as we keep trying God will never give up on us. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)
Today know that God’s love will never lead you to fail and his love for you never ends. The more we serve him, the more we walk in his love, and the more blessings we receive. Trust the Lord completely because he loves you perfectly and will guide you with his love, power, and strength. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to walk in your will and in your love, and keep me from failing in serving you. Let your love fill my heart and drive out any fear from Satan. Thank you for your endless love and for the power of your love that guides my spiritual growth. In Jesus name, Amen
