Love Motivates

Posted on

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:8-10

What does it mean we are not saved by works but by faith, but we are created to do good works? If you love me, keep my commands. (John 14:15) From this verse, we are to be motivated by love to serve the Lord because God looks at our spiritual hearts. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)  God looks at our heart because we live out of our hearts because our words and actions don’t always reflect our hearts.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) We are created in the image of God and we are being molded to the image of Christ, therefore God will fill our hearts with his love.  With a heart of God’s love, obeying the Lord’s commands becomes natural and desirable.  We love the Lord and we love people; just as God loves all people and wishes all to be saved, our heart wishes for the same.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) God so loved the world and his love showed action. God’s love results in action and sacrifice, and Christ fulfilled the Father’s plan to redeem mankind. We are to be Christ-like with our hearts filled with God’s love, but is love motivating us to action and sacrifice? If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. (1 John 3:17-18)

Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. “But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come (Matthew 24:12) God’s love is destined to the hearts of all Christians, and love motivates us to bring God’s love to everyone. Love incites motivation, and motivation drives us to the Lord, and the Lord finds a way for us bring his love to the world.

Today, live in the power of the love God put in your heart and let it drive your motivations. Do not waste a minute today without seeking guidance from the Spirit to reflect God’s love to others.

Prayer:  Lord let your love motivate me to bring your divine message to everyone and open a door for me to expand your love.  Fill my heart with your love each day so I can know you better
