Love is Stronger than Evil

Posted on

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1 John 4:4

God’s love in our hearts is stronger than Satan’s evil.  Do everything in love. (1 Corinthians 16:14) because the power is in God’s love. Fighting evil with anger just makes evil stronger, while fighting evil with love, Satan will flee.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) Our war is a spiritual war because the spirits are in control; the evil spirit of Satan is our enemy, and the loving spirit of God is our weapon.  Satan is hate, and God is love, we fight hate with love, just as light takes away darkness.

Every Christian is commanded to be light for Christ in this evil world. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16) Pray that the Lord will open doors where you can show God’s love. We show our desire by asking the Lord to guide us to help others, to help the poor, and to bring Christ to others.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58) The Lord is please when his people are always abounding in the work of the Lord.  Love motivates us to pray and search out every opportunity to show God’s love and bring Christ to lost souls. We have the Lord guiding us and his power in us will destroy evil with his love and compassion.

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. (Romans 12:11) Satan is working hard to destroy Christians, and we need to fight back, motivated by intense passionate desire that comes from a heart of love. We fight back by telling the world God’s Truth to overcome Satan lies, and we do this by reflecting God’s love and compassion.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) Life to the full comes when our hearts drive us to tell the world about Christ and reflect God’s love. This is the most rewarding life because our focus is on God and others. This is the life God created us to live, and he guides by the Spirit.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) We are free in Christ, when we are free from self. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20) The apostle Paul was free in Christ and lived a rewarding life, even though his physical life was extremely difficult.

Today reflect God’s love because love is stronger than evil. Show love by caring about people and their physical needs, and at the same time tend to their spiritual needs. If we don’t care about people’s physical needs, are they going to listen to us about Christ’s love?

Prayer: Lord fill my heart with your love and guide me in the Spirit to show your love everyone. In Jesus name, Amen
