Love Holds the World Together

Posted on

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

The results of love can be seen everywhere in this world today; help when someone’s car breaks down, mothers and fathers taking care of their kids, and people volunteering to help others. Many other results of love are evident if we take the time to notice. Love cares about others, and agape love from God motivates us to help others.

Satan is hate, and he feeds the world with his lies, seeking to make people more self-centered and less loving. He desires for people to be self-centered and to care little or nothing about others. This is Satan’s goal: me first and others last. It’s only through love that we can overcome this self-centered nature fed to us by Satan.

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves (Romans 12:10). This is the heart of a Christian, placing God first and sacrificing our time to help others. When our hearts are filled with agape love and we have compassion for others, we are more content because this is the way God created us to be. Self-centeredness leads to discontentment because the flesh is never satisfied. Humans are only content when we have a giving heart which satisfies the soul.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1). Freedom in Christ comes from a heart filled with God’s love. As Christians we help to hold the world together because love can be contagious. The more love we reflect to the world the more we help to hold the world together.

Christians fight Satan’s evil tactics in this world through prayer and reflecting Christ, because we cannot control the demonic evil throughout the world. We reflect love wherever we go and we pray for God’s will to be done here on earth. It’s the mark of a Christian to promote God’s love wherever he or she goes, knowing that love changes the heart from self-centeredness to God- centeredness. When we put God and others first we live life to the full.

Today remember that Satan is trying to tear the world apart as we hold the world together by reflecting God’s love. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10).

Let’s Pray: Lord, fill my heart with your love and help me to reflect love and kindness to everyone today. Guide me by the Spirit to combat Satan’s evil tactics with your truth, with a heart of love. In Jesus name, Amen
