Lord, Give Me Your Heart

Posted on

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

How blessed we are to live in this world reflecting the mind and heart of Jesus. The process of renewing the mind lasts a life time and it is the same for our hearts. As our mind and heart progressively identifies with the mind and heart of Jesus, our life becomes more fulfilling and adventurous.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son. (Romans 8:29) We who accept Christ become the ones God foreknew, and we are predestined to conform to the image of Jesus. If we study the Word, pray, worship in fellowship, and serve the Lord, God will mold us by renewing our mind and changing our heart. God changes us as we live according to his divine plan for our life.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) Through Bible study, prayer, and worship with our Christian brothers and sisters, our mind renews with knowledge of God, his love, and his ways. We test and approve what God’s will is, implies we go into the world and point people to Christ, and our hearts change to be like Jesus’ heart. When ministering to the world our thoughts and emotions will identify with Jesus’ thoughts, drawing us closer to him, and love increases in our hearts.

We become more Christ-like as we continue in Bible study, prayer, worship, and serving. This forms a circle of growth. Ministering to others, drives us into the Word, into prayer, and into worship with our Christian brothers and sisters, which prepares us to go into the world reflecting Christ.

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6) The more of God’s love we reflect to others, the more love that fills our heart. The more love in our hearts the closer we are to the Lord because God is love. As love increases, fear from Satan decreases and our heart now models Jesus’ heart. Jesus walked with a heart of love and overcame any fear Satan put in his path, even death on a cross.

Today walk with a heart of love trusting the Lord to overcome fear. Having a heart filled with faith and love makes a very powerful Christian that reflects Christ to the world. And a heart filled with love and compassion is the heart of Jesus.

Prayer: Lord thank you for changing my heart, filling it with your love and compassion. With my heart filled with your love my faith has reached new heights. Thank you, Lord for always being with me and guiding me in the Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
