Living at God’s Potential for Your Life

Posted on

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 10:10

Are we living life to the full as God intends for us? Before we can determine if we are living life to the full, we must understand from the Word the Lord’s description of life to the full. After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.‘ (Acts 13:22) To live life to the full is to do whatever the Lord calls us to do, and this takes faith.

The problem is that we don’t always hear what the Lord is calling us to do unless we are closely connected the Lord through the Spirit. If we are living our own life making our own choices independent of the Lord, then it is doubtful if we will hear his calling. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4) When Christ is our life, then we are in a position to fulfill his commands.

The next key ingredient to live in God’s potential for us, is motivation. Nothing can replace motivation because it is our desire to serve the Lord and do whatever he puts on our heart. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (Colossians 3:23) Our greatest desire in this life is to serve the Lord, praying for his guidance and power as we live for Christ reflecting his love and wisdom to everyone.

We are now living to the potential God has for us because we living for him, Christ is now our life. The blessings when Christ is our life is freedom in Christ, and peace and joy that is inexpressible as we walk confidently reflecting Christ. His love fills our heart and fear is driven away. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18) God’s love in our hearts drives out fear.

Today live life to the potential God has for you. Seek to obey his every command as you search for opportunities to minister to lost souls, to encourage people and give them hope. Ask the Spirit to open your eyes to see the world through Christ, and to have the divine words to bring to others.

Prayer: Lord help me to live a life that is your potential for me, I don’t want to live a life divided between the world and you. I seek to have Christ to be my life and my motivation and as walk in this life as a Light for Christ in this world. In Jesus name, Amen
