Living by the Spirit

Posted on

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Romans 8:6

Christians are created to have their minds governed by the Spirit, and when our minds are governed by the Spirit, everything we see, hear, speak, and think, goes to and from the Spirit.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John16:13) Christ speaks to us through the Spirit, by placing thoughts and scriptures into our minds. The more we know the Word, the more we can be guided by the Spirit. The purpose of the Spirit is to guide us through life, and the more still we are inside, then we can notice thoughts from Christ who is always with us.

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14) We seek to be guided by the Spirit, and we pray to be guided by the Spirit, because we need God’s help in being guided by the Spirit. We depend on the Lord’s power to fulfill the purpose of the Spirit in our life.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16) The more we walk by the Spirit the less we will be guided by our fleshly desires. We live by the Spirit through the power of God, and God created us to live by the Spirit. It may sound difficult, but with a strong desire and the power of God, we can be guided by the Spirit.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105) Knowing the Word will guide us when cannot hear from the Spirit, and it helps to be guided by the Spirit because the Word is the language of God. Therefore, it is greatly to our advantage to know the Word.

The more we obey the Word by telling others about Christ, the more love God puts in our hearts. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) It’s God’s love in our hearts that brings us closer to the Lord, because God is love, and the closer we are to God the more we can be guided by the Spirit.

Today seek to be guided by Christ through the Spirit, and His guidance will always agree with scripture.

Prayer: Father, help me to be guided by the Spirit and to know the Word. I need Christ’s guidance through every minute of the day. In Jesus name, Amen
