Living as Jesus Did
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
1 John 2:6
The Holy Spirit lives in the believer. We are predestined to conform to the image of his Son (Romans 8:29) and we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16) From these two verses, it appears we are to live as Jesus lived with a heart of love and compassion, bringing the truth to people. If we live as Jesus did, we will have a very close relationship with the Lord thereby increasing our life to the full. The most fulfilling and rewarding thing in life is being close to the Lord.
If you love me, keep my commands. (1 John 2:15) The more of God’s love we have in our hearts, the more desire we will have to serve the Lord. Serving the Lord is not a chore; it’s the desire of our hearts. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16) The Spirit guides us to be Christ-like and at the same time molds us to be more Christ-like. The more we live as Jesus did, the more we are in the Word, in prayer, and in fellowship because without these three we are unequipped to serve the Lord.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) Satan’s desire is to make us self-centered which results in a meaningless life, but the Lord gives our life divine meaning that we were created to fulfill. The Spirit will guide us to fulfill the Lord’s plan for us, the plan we were uniquely created for. When we fulfill that plan, we experience life to the full.
Today live as Jesus did, with a heart of love, showing kindness and patience, and be genuinely encouraging to others. This is living as Jesus did.
Prayer: Lord, help me to live today as Jesus would live this day. Guide me in the Spirit with love, peace, and joy, and help me to put you and others first. In Jesus’ name, Amen
