Live with Peace

Posted on

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!

Psalm 37:7

If we go through our day with peace in our hearts, we will experience comfort for our souls. Peace is a fruit of the Spirit, but Satan tempts us with busy schedules in effort to have us rush through our days. We all have schedules but we can remain at peace for our souls, if we live by the Spirit and not by the flesh.  Satan comes to us through the flesh, but the Lord can constantly feed our souls with peace.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (Romans 8:5) If we train our thoughts to be guided by the Spirit, we can have peace even when the world is chaotic around us.  You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (Isaiah 26:3) When we experience God’s peace, it becomes desirable and we fight any temptation to steal our peace.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7) The peace that comes from God transcends understanding because Spirit can constantly feed our soul.  The peace from God never goes away, even when life is difficult. Our soul has to be ready to receive peace from the Spirit. If our thoughts are more on the world, our soul cannot fully receive the peace from the Spirit.  If our thoughts are on things above and we pray for peace, our soul will experience divine peace.

The beauty of God’s peace is that over time, our soul gets filled with divine peace and peace gets stronger as our faith gets stronger. Every blessing from God fills our soul more as we develop a closer relationship with the Lord. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. (James 4:8 ESV) If we draw near to the Lord, then he will draw near us.  But how do we draw closer to the Lord so divine peace will fill our soul?

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) As our hearts gets filled with God’s love, we are drawing near to the Lord because God is love.  It’s a heart filled with God’s love that enables us to know God with increased faith that depends on the Lord.  Our hearts become more like the heart of Jesus as we personally minister to souls when we reflect Jesus to everyone and, if the opportunity arises, tell them about salvation in Christ.

Today, seek to draw closer to the Lord by reflecting Jesus to everyone and pray for peace to fill your soul.  Whenever Satan tries to steal your peace, pray for peace to overcome the temptation. Never let anything in the world take away the peace that transcends understanding.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for giving me your divine peace to cope with this world. Let the world around me see the peace in my heart, and I will tell them it comes from Heaven.  In Jesus name, Amen
