Live to Serve the Lord

Posted on

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

John 12:26

We live to serve the Lord, but does the world do the opposite, praying for the Lord serve them? If we want God’s blessings, then our life should be dedicated to serving the Lord. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4) Our life is Christ, and we live to be Light on a hill, serving the Lord by following the Spirit. Then we receive the Lord’s blessings, because the Father will honor us.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. (Matthew 16:24) We are called to be disciples of Christ and we can’t be disciples unless we deny self and follow Christ through the Spirit.  We take up our cross and we the follow the Spirit even when it is fearful and when we feel unqualified.  We depend on the Lord to guide us through whatever the Spirit tells us; and we prepare and give our best to the Lord.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) The apostle Paul depended on Christ to guide his life through the Spirit. When we put the Lord as our priority, he will guide us through life with peace and joy, and we will overcome the world.

We always put God and others first, but it starts with our family. We pray for the Lord to bless our family and to keep us strong and healthy. Our family is our first ministry followed by those in the church; and every Christian should have a ministry to help others and reflect God’s love.

God is first priority in our life, which means we live to serve Christ, then the Lord takes care of our earthly and give us eternal life.  This is not the way the world works the world focuses on self and family first. Satan tempts Christians to live both as part in the world and as part in the Spirit. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) To live by this verse takes faith, seeking God first and all these things we be given to you as well. This goes against the way worldly people live.  We live by faith, because without faith we cannot please God.

Today live serving Christ and seek the Lord’s power and guidance in everything you do. The more we depend on the Lord the more thankful we will be.

Prayer:  Lord help me to follow the Spirit today in whatever Christ has call me to do.  In Jesus name, Amen
