Live to Please God

Posted on

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Galatians 1:10

The Pharisees lived to be highly respected by people and not by God, and Jesus rebuked them because their hearts were far from God. When we live to please God, we are filled with the Lord’s love, kindness, and respect to others. It is impossible to please everyone but it is possible to please God because we have forgiveness from Christ.

Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:8) If we live for our fleshy desires, instead of godly desires from the Spirit, we cannot please God. When we live for the Spirit’s desire, we live life to the full which means we enjoy life. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10 Satan is the ruler of the air, and he deceives people to think the best life is when we live for our worldly desires.

Some people think their life is good because they seek worldly desires. They have no experience of living the life God has for them, and no experience of the blessings from God that continually feeds our souls. People talk about how great life is, but they will never know how great life can be through Christ. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. (1 John 5:11) If we live to please people, we are living to please the flesh, Heaven will not be our home, unless we change and live to please God.

So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; (Colossians 1:10) Living to please God we need to know the Word and we need to follow the Spirit. The Spirit will guide us to be a light on a hill which means we tell others about salvation through Christ. We show Christ by our words and actions, and pray for opportunities to tell someone about Christ.

Today live to please God by reflecting the fruit of the Spirit; But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23). Ask the Lord to be with you today and guide your words and actions.

Prayer: Guide me live to please to God in everything I do. In Jesus name, Amen
