Live to Please the Lord

Posted on

Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.

2 Corinthians 5:9

If we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; then shouldn’t we always try to please to him? How would our life change if we were conscious of trying to please God in every thought we have?

The Lord loves everyone perfectly and can we image the hurt he must have for lost souls? This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3-4) As the Lord fills our heart with his love we begin to hurt for loss souls. We can only personally minister to people we contact, but with the power of prayer we can reach people anywhere, and we can pray for the Lord to keep Satan away from people. We can pray for God to touch lost souls so they will be acceptable to hearing the truth.

Nothing pleases God more than having the faith to step out and minister to lost souls, through personal contact and through prayer. We pray for the Lord to lead us to lost souls and guide us in ministering to them. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. (Luke 19:10) As we go through their day we will make contact with many lost souls, and if stay in contact with the Lord he will lead us to someone with a heart to listen.

The Lord is pleased when we depend on him to minister to lost souls. We can please the Lord by always putting him first, with our hearts giving the Lord priority in our lives. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Luke 12:34) Our heart is reflected by our thoughts, and our thoughts determine our treasure.

Life is full of decisions and we make roughly 35,000 decisions each day, which include our thoughts, words, and actions. Every though we have is a decision. When we control our thoughts it increases the power from our Lord to control our words and our emotions. It is a divine blessings when we can control our words and our emotions because it brings satisfaction and peace. This means through the power of God we are in control, in control of ourselves. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Today seek to be consciously aware of pleasing the Lord. Practice controlling your thoughts, words, and emotions. As we capture our thoughts to the obedience of Christ, the Lord enables us to change our thoughts and our emotions.

Prayer: Lord I pray that my life is pleasing to you today, that my words and emotions are controlled by the Spirit. My life is filled with peace and joy when my life pleases you. Help me to be consciously aware of pleasing you today. In Jesus name, Amen
