Live Knowing God’s Divine Plan

Posted on

God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:3

If we are working on a project it is important to know the desired outcome and to have a plan for completion. Otherwise, we might be working without knowing the purpose of what we are doing. It is the same with God’s divine plan. It is important to understand the purpose of God’s plan as revealed to us in God’s Word. We need to know the details of the plan, such as his plan for salvation through Christ, the purpose of free will, the purpose of evil in the world, the purpose of the Israelite nation, the purpose of the church, and the completion of his plan.

If we understand God’s overall plan and live with awareness of the plan, we can become eternally minded. Life is more peaceful if we are eternally minded as opposed to living worldly minded. Life can become difficult if we are worldly minded and are not aware of God’s overall, eternal plan. Our focus can easily be through a worldly view and not an eternal one. Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things  (Colossians 3:1-2).

If we are eternally minded we live for eternity and we live in this temporary world anticipating our eternal reward. This greatly helps us to live as Jesus lived because we now see Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven in a new light, more like the apostles who actually witnessed it. We also see the world as temporary, knowing our earthly lives are for the purpose of being ambassadors for Christ. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us (2 Corinthians 5:20). When we understand God’s divine plan and become eternally minded, thinking on things above and being an ambassador for Christ, we can better endure this world.

It becomes easier to endure hardships and difficulties because we know this life is temporary, and we anxiously await our true life in Heaven. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, (2 Corinthians 5:2). Heaven is our eternal home, and when we live knowing God’s divine plan we never forget our divine destiny. Living in God’s divine plan brings more peace and joy, as the Lord fills our hearts with his love, thereby reducing the fear in our lives.

Today, remember you have a divine purpose living in God’s plan, and heaven is your home. Be sure to understand the details of God’s plan so you can understand your divine purpose and the purpose of evil in this world. The more we understand the details of God’s plan, the more we understand God’s loving plan to redeem us and to carry us through life in his love, power, and wisdom.

Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to think about your overall plan and to live eternally minded. May I be a light in this world to people who don’t know the truth and who live completely worldly minded. Reveal the love, peace, and joy that you have put in my heart through the Spirit, and keep me from complaining, showing fear and impatience, or showing un-Godly anger. In Jesus’ name, Amen
