Live in the Light

Posted on

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

John 8:12

Jesus is the Light of the world and the Light lives in our hearts.  When we walk in the light, we can see the direction we are going.  I view the narrow road with the Light of God at the end of the road guiding us down the narrow road to Heaven. On the broad road, people walking in darkness because they don’t know Christ and they cannot see their way to Heaven.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14) Jesus was the Light of the world, now Christ lives in us and we are the Light of the world. Our Light is on a hill, which means the desire of our hearts motivates us to bring Christ to the world around us. Christ lives in us enabling us to minister to the world.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) The challenge of letting Christ guide us is that our will gets in the way of the Lord’s will. We need to depend on Christ to guide us to minister and to give us words and scriptures. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) This verse tells us that if we desire to bear much fruit, we must remain in Christ.

Satan tempts us to depend on ourselves and not fully depend on Christ. We should prepare with Christ’s guidance and we should be connected to Christ as we minister to others. Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! (1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV) If we truly depend on the Lord, he will send his strength and his wisdom. He will bring scriptures to mind with a caring heart. The advantage of depending on Christ is that Christ knows the heart of the people to whom we are ministering.

It’s an amazing gift that Christ lives in us and we have the power of God to minister to the world. This means God is always with us guiding us through life. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10) If we seek to remain in Christ, he will always be with us and give his strength and help us to be a Light in this world.

Today, be Light for Christ and depend on Christ to guide you. Develop an attitude of thankfulness that Christ and his perfect love will guide you through life being a Light on a hill.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for living in me through the Spirit and guiding me through life with your divine love, power, and wisdom. Help me to always depend on you, especially when ministering to others.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
