Live in the Faith that Pleases God

Posted on

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

We are saved by having faith that pleases God, a faith that trusts the Lord without any doubt. Our trust increases over time as we know the Lord better and know his ways are always perfect. The more faith we have the easier it is to surrender to his loving will which sets us free.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5) A faith that is pleasing to God means trusting him with all your heart and not leaning on your own understanding. If we lean on our own understanding to any degree, then we are not trusting the Lord with all our heart. True faith is to always trust the Lord’s way. When we stop leaning on our own understanding, we have stopped trying to share the throne with God. Thou shall have no other gods before me.(Exodus 20:3)

For we walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) If our life is guided by our physical sight then we are trusting our own will. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9) We trust the Lord’s ways even if we don’t understand or we disagree, because faith is trusting the Lord’s will over our will.

We trust the Lord with our life, his answer to our prayers and his guidance by the Spirit. True faith is actually doing what the he guides us to do, even if it’s beyond our means or requires lots of work. Moses trusted the Lord and spent over 40 years in the desert dealing with the rebellious Israelites. He died in the desert but he continued trusting in God by serving him until his death. What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? (James 2:14) Faith is doing what the Lord calls us to do as seen in his Word and guided by the Spirit.

Trust the Lord with your life as you walk as his servant. Pray about whatever the Spirit puts on your heart and accept the Lord’s answer. As your thoughts align with the Father’s thoughts and everything is done for God’s glory, then the answer to prayer will be better understandable. However, we can never fully understand the Lord’s way on this side of eternity.

Today live as the Lord’s servant guided by the Spirit. Trust the Lord completely in his guidance and in prayer. Then your faith will be pleasing to him.

Prayer: Lord, help me to have the faith that pleases you. To trust you completely as I walk as your servant. In Jesus’ name, Amen
