Live in the Spirit

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

John 8:31-32

I refer to living in the Spirit as walking in the Spirit and being aware of the Spirit’s presence. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13)  Living in the Spirit is being connected to Christ through the Spirit. This means we have direct connection to Christ at all times.

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14) The Spirit leads us through life as we seek the Lord’s guidance and help.  The Lord will speak to us placing his love and wisdom into our thoughts and words. It is important that we commune with the Lord as ask for his guidance and help in virtually all situations. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)  It is important that we ask the Lord, seeking his divine love and power. This will keep us in the Spirit.

Dependence on the Lord is essential for living in the Spirit and led by the Spirit. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8) Keeping our eyes on the Lord means we are aware of being connected to the Lord at all times because we depend on him.  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) The more we ask for the Lord’s guidance seeking his thoughts and his ways, the more Christ-like we become.

Today live in the Spirit and seek the Lord’s thoughts and ways, and live this day with Godly wisdom, words, and power. Always have an awareness that the power of God lives in you and call upon the Lord whenever needed. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20) Live in the Spirit and let the Lord’s power work in you.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to live in the Spirit today, and to always know the Spirit’s presence.  Guide me to seek your guidance as I go through the day serving you. In Jesus name, Amen
