Live by Faith

Posted on

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

If we don’t have faith that pleases God, we can easily struggle in our Christian walk.  Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5) This verse is very familiar to most Christians, and if we truly trust the Lord with all our heart, we will have faith that pleases the Lord.

In order not to lean on ourselves, we die to self and live for Christ and others.  I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.(Galatians 2:20)  The apostle Paul is free in Christ because he totally depended on Christ, and he lived to bring others to Christ.

Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, Praise the name of the Lord. (Psalm 113:1) Christians have a heart to serve the Lord and to bring souls to Christ, and it becomes the reason we are living.  Being the Lord’s servant is the greatest position on the planet and brings life to the full. We live as Christ’s ambassador and we live as Jesus did, teaching the world about Christ with love and compassion. Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6) Just as Jesus lived to serve the Father, we live to serve Christ.

When our hearts truly live to serve Christ and others, we will trust and depend on Christ regardless of worldly circumstances.  The apostle Paul had tragic circumstances in life, but he never lost faith and continued to serve Christ, and we are to do the same.  It is through trials and tribulations in life that God tests our faith, and our faith will fail unless we have died to self and live for Christ. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18) Christians go through suffering and our faith only gets stronger with more dependence on the Lord.

If we view God through our hearts and see his infinite power, love, compassion, sovereignty, wisdom, etc., and we truly see who we are in comparison, how can we not trust him?  God is the creator of Heaven and earth; there cannot be any other God because the creator is infinitely above his creation. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Pray with a humble and thankful heart because it’s only through Christ we have access to God. And without faith we are not pleasing to God, and Satan is always causing worldly events to destroy our faith. We are Christ’s ambassadors and live every day to serve the Lord, living in prayer, in his divine Word, and in Christian fellowship.  We serve the Lord till our last breath, and we live life to the full. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

Today live as the Lord’s servant and live life to the full. Put God and others first in your life and seek to tell someone about the goodness of Christ and forgiveness. Salvation through Christ is greatest news someone can hear.

Prayer: Lord, fill my heart with your love and guide me to live as Jesus lived, as your servant. Help me to trust and depend on you in all circumstances and to live life to the full, free in Christ. Thank you, Lord, for saving me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
