Live by Faith

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him

Hebrews 11:6

If our faith is essential, therefore we ask the Lord if our faith is pleasing to him. God is our judge; we don’t judge ourselves because we are all biased. I care very little, however, if I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.  My conscience is clear, but that does not vindicate me. It is the Lord who judges me. (1 Corinthians 4:3-4) The apostle Paul depended on the Lord to be his judge so the Lord would change him and he would be more like Jesus.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8) Living by faith means we depend on the Lord for judging our Christian life, and we depend on the Lord to get through our day as his servant.  These are to essential element of faith, trust the Lord to judge our Christian life, and depend on the Lord to guide us through each day of life.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) This verse describes the faith that pleases God, fully trusting the Lord over our own understanding. If we live as the Lord’s servant and we see the Lord as our Master, then we will trust him more than we trust ourselves. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) We live by faith because we trust the Lord’s ways and thoughts because he is God. We may never understand all his ways until we reach Heaven, but sometimes we understand his ways and thoughts months or years later as we continue living as his servants.

If we tend to lean on our own understanding, we are trying to share the throne, and it shows that we really don’t know the Lord.  If we truly know God and his perfect love for us, then we will trust his ways.  Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) God is love and when our hearts are filled with his love, we will know the Father and the Son, and we will trust him fully.

Today live by faith and fully trust the Lord in every situation. Ask and seek his guidance as you go through the day, bringing the light of Christ into this dark world.

Prayer:  Lord help me to live with more faith every day and trust you with all my heart. Guide me through the Spirit as your servant to be a light pointing people to Christ.  In Jesus name, Amen.
