Live as Jesus Did

Posted on

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

John 2:6

Jesus lives in us through the Holy Spirit and we are being molded to conform to his Son. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, (Romans 8:29) We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. (2 Corinthians 5:20) Jesus lives in us. We are being molded into the image of the Son, and we are ambassadors for Christ in a foreign land. What does it mean if we see ourselves living in a foreign land as ambassadors for Christ? How important is it to realize this world is not our home, but rather heaven is our home?

If we settle in this world, thinking this world is our permanent home and not realizing we are ambassadors for Christ, then are we living as Jesus lived? Are we living to be a light for Christ, motivated to reflect God’s love and truth to everyone? Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. (Colossians 3:23-24) If we are aware that Christ lives in us, then we are consciously reflecting Christ in everything we do, everything we say, and everything we think. If we are not reflecting Christ, then who are we reflecting? Could it be our own worldly nature?

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. (Galatians 2:20)  We can read this scripture many times, but how can we always know Christ lives in us and live as Jesus did? It is essential that we pray we are always Christ-like. If this is our desire, and it is definitely God’s desire, then it will happen. Always pray that God will give you whatever you need to minister to this world. There is nothing more important in your life than living as Jesus did. And how often can we live as Jesus did, if it is not the most important thing in our lives?

Spiritual growth only happens as we grow in living the life of Jesus. This makes Bible reading, prayer, and fellowship, both needed and desirable. A true Christian seeks to be a light for Christ, an ambassador in this foreign land. He is one who lives in the Word, prays continually, and is driven by the Spirit into fellowship. This is spiritual growth that continually changes our hearts.

Today, live as Jesus in this foreign land. Live today with divine purpose as an ambassador for Christ. You are on a mission for God, guided by the Holy Spirit, to reflect Christ to everyone. This will give divine meaning to your day and make life fulfilling.

Let’s pray: Lord, help me to live as your Son lived, consciously aware of my purpose to reflect Christ to everyone. Let the Spirit guide me to be Christ-like and keep Satan from inciting negative emotions in me. Fill my heart with love, peace, and joy, so I can have rest for my soul today. In Jesus name, Amen.
