Live a Holy Life

Posted on

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.

1 Peter 1:15

A holy Christian is devoted to the service of God in all situations. God is referred to as ‘holy, holy, holy’ which indicates He is perfect and different from every human being; there is no one like God.  We are called to be holy just as Jesus was holy.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) To be holy means we do not conform to the pattern of this world. We are controlled by the Holy Spirit who guides us to be holy at all times.  If we are consciously aware of reflecting Christ, then we will be Holy.

Satan’s goal is to tempt us toward conforming to the pattern of the world and away from being holy.  He doesn’t want us to reflect Christ’s love and compassion.  Our spiritual war is being holy versus conforming to the pattern of the world, where sinful behavior pulls away from being Holy. Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14) Our eternal life requires us to be holy, and the purpose of our life in this world is to reflect Christ, and we do this by being holy.

A Christian strives to be holy which means we are closer to the Lord than we are to the world. We are ambassadors in this world and heaven is our home; we are different from worldly people. Even when we are alone, we remain holy because we are always in the presence of Christ through the Spirit. The Lord changes our hearts as we live to serve Him, then we are naturally holy at all time.

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:20) If we can always realize we are ambassadors for Christ and Heaven is eternal home, then it will be easier to be holy. Being eternally minded has a powerful impact on our Christian life and our goal to be holy and to reflect Christ.

Today, be mindful of being Holy and realize you are an ambassador for Christ and heaven is your home. Christ is with you through the Spirit, and He guides you to be holy as go through the day. Satan tempts our emotions to pull us away from being holy.  When Satan attacks, call on Christ to remain holy.

Prayer: Lord, guide me in the Spirit to remain holy and to reflect Christ.  Keep changing my heart, making holiness natural to me. I need to be mindful to reflect your love and Truth in all situations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
