Light Overcomes Darkness

Posted on

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:5

Light overcomes darkness. Darkness cannot overcome light. Darkness occurs only when light is taken away. We are God’s family, the Light of the world, and Satan cannot destroy the Light with his darkness. As long as we stand with Christ and let our Light be known, we will stand in victory.

We are the Light of Christ in this dark and sinful world because many people choose not to overcome the darkness. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. (John 3:19) Our Light shines in an evil world where only a few find the Light; but every soul is worth more than all the riches in the world. Therefore we never feel defeated. Instead, we let our Light shine that it may guide people to see the narrow road to life. Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)

In the last days Satan and his demons are fighting to destroy God’s people in their effort to hurt God. But we are the Light and Satan cannot put out the Light; the only ones who can put out the Light, are us. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. (Matthew 24:12) The evil we hear about everyday can cause the seed of hate to be planted in our hearts. We hate the evil that Satan puts into lost souls but we don’t hate the people. There is no room in our hearts for hate, with the exception of hating sin. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:44) The Lord wants us to pray for our enemies so that hate doesn’t capture our hearts. Satan pulls people into the darkness, but through Christ in us and through our prayers, God overcomes the darkness with divine Light.

Today, realize that you are the Light of Christ, and that darkness cannot overcome it. You have the power of the Light; the power and victory of Christ. No matter how the world treats you, you are the Light and you stand in victory. We fight this dark world confidently with the love and wisdom of God.

Let’s pray: Lord, thank you for bringing me into the Light that shines in the darkness. Let the Light shine stronger every day in my life, and let it reflect your love and compassion for all souls. Thank you for a new heart that can overcome evil and the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
