Light Overcomes Darkness

Posted on

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:5

The Light of God takes away darkness, but darkness can never overtake the light of God. When Satan’s darkness attacks, call on the light of Christ, and darkness has to flee, because Christ has total authority over the darkness of Satan and his demons.

To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me. (Acts 26:18) When we minister to lost souls, we introduce them to living in the light, where there is the Holy Spirit and forgiveness. And they are on the narrow road to Heaven, living in God’s family, and no one can snatch them from His righteous right hand.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14) The many that are on the broad road are walking in darkness and cannot see where they are going, while those on the narrow road are walking straight toward the Light of God, and when we reach the Light, we are in Heaven.

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57) When Satan attacks we will always have victory through Christ, because Christ has authority over Satan. The problem is that we must have authority over our own sinful will; but we overcome our own sinful will through the power of Christ. No matter how pleasurable the sin can be, it is still the darkness of sin and displeasing to God.

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matthew 6:23) The darkness of evil can take away the light within us, but it is our choice. We have free will to choose light or darkness, and if we choose Light, darkness flees. If Satan tempts us, we immediately call on Christ for victory, before Satan uses our emotion to take us into darkness.

Today live in the light and let Christ do way with darkness. Lookup and see the light and know God is looking down at you.

Prayer: Father, keep me away form darkness and help me to remain in the Light which shows the way to heaven. In Jesus name, Amen
